"It doesn't get any better than this" said Zoe, as we ran back towards Chris's. Earlier he'd added, "we're so lucky having this on our doorstep". I pointed out it literally was on his on his actual door step, and our doorsteps were elsewhere. Steve simply stated "it's a bit fucking nippy, Rich". What 'this' and 'it' was, was a simply stunning, but nippy Monday evening, perhaps like many others we've had on our Monday runs, but we all know this isn't going to last. And this was one to really appreciate. The evening was certainly very special.
The season is changing. It was dusk by the time we got back, we saw the sun drop and the clouds change their colour and the mist start to collect down in the Bollin Valley. Rather than our normal route, Chris had declared an alternative off road adventure. Apparently he walks his dog this way and has been 'developing' the route. He 'led' from the back, aiming us towards invisible gaps in the hedge, running through someones garden and bringing us back from missed turns. We lost count how many times we went wrong. The Path of Myths, he'd called it.
