Stood shivering at the club on Tuesday, awaiting our address from coach Tony, there was much talk of Helsby. Everyone did really well with some terrific results and many with big pb's. And Tony reflected this is his pre-session pep talk. Better still, the men and ladies team won the first round of the CRRGP and we now have a good lead. With the rain starting and the wind making a nip, you could still feel the collective positive vibe. Great team spirit.
Our reward was a 'steady' recovery session with a treat of running on grass. None of us really understood how this was in any way less ugly than any other session, but our mood was high and it passed relatively without pain. Good times. The reality, should you open your eyes however, is somewhat different. It's not that the weather is bad, it's fine. The rain is one thing, as is the cold and the wind. But together, and at night...it's just so miserably grey
I can't emphasise it enough. It's just pants. At times like these it's really easy to stay in doors, preferably in bed. But no, it's another day and there's running to be done. Even if it means running bathed in orange street lights or through this dark tunnel not quite knowing what's inside, or on the perimeter of Marks & Spencers while normal people are enjoying their shopping. It's all we've got, so just best to get on with it...as this Landie ad nicely depicts. Kind of makes you smile. Another one here.
